Christmas ideas for kids who love dinosaurs

Updated: May 12, 2023

It's that time of year again folks!

If you're anything like me, the most stressful time of Christmas is figuring out what to get everyone. Some people are easy, some are horrendously difficult. One type of person that is actually pretty easy to buy for is a kid though, especially a kid who loves dinosaurs!

It's not difficult to find a gift for a kid who loves dinosaurs, but it can be a little more tricky to get something that they'll remember and treasure for longer. Even more difficult when you want to find something actually educational that is still engaging for them (not to mention accurate...if a company tries to tell you on a plastic toy that T.rex is from the Jurassic, run away). If the person you're buying a Christmas gift for is a little more mature, we also have a post with Christmas ideas for adults.

So, with wallets being strained and wits coming to an end in trying make Christmas special, let's take a look at some amazing Christmas gift ideas for a kid who loves dinosaurs and fossils!

You saw this one coming, right? There's no getting away from the fact that kids spend most of their free time playing with toys. Of course, the age in which they switch to solely electrical toys is getting younger and younger (oh my god, why do I feel so old), but that doesn't mean there are still some fun options for a kid who loves dinosaurs. With just a little bit of effort and time, you can definitely find something that is fun, original and educational!

Another great place to look for some unique and educational dinosaur toys is definitely Etsy!

Nothing like an old school book eh? Better yet, books age much better than toys left piling up in the garage or video games that no longer work, so your kid may just keep hold of that dinosaur book for when they have kids who are equally into dinosaurs.

The best part about getting your kid a dinosaur book for Christmas? It's silent...

Back in the 90s and early 2000s, I would have given anything for my very own excavation kit. There is nothing quite like imagining yourself in the Badlands digging and dusting away at a newly found fossil, especially when you're a kid. Having a new set to go towards bringing that dream to life would be an absolute joy to open up on Christmas morning! Be sure to include a safety hard hat, a handy field guide, some safety goggles, a bag to store all your kids findings in and, of course, a child friendly hammer!

Let's face it, the little ones can't spend all their time playing with toys or finding their own fossils. They'll be spending their downtime likely in their room, so getting your kid some dino decorations for Christmas could be another thing they'll really enjoy having, even just to look at:

Ok, most kids of a younger age don't really care about what they're wearing, but you can be sure they'll care a lot more when someone asks what dinosaur is on their t-shirt and they can show off all that knowledge they've collected. What more needs to be said?

Until next time!
